SGP BRITISH stars Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris know they have to start by getting a race win on the board this weekend.

Neither has taken the flag first in 40 races between them in this year's Grand Prix series so far, and consequently they have found themselves outside the semi-finals.

Nicholls gets the first chance to break that record in Heat 1 when he faces Leigh Adams, Lukas Dryml and Niels-Kristian Iversen, whilst Harris has the inside gate in Heat 2 against Tomasz Gollob, Fredrik Lindgren and Rune Holta.

British Champion Nicholls said: "I'm not disappointed with the way I've been riding the bikes, it's just that a couple of bits have been so costly.
"I've been a gnat's whisker away from three semi-finals, it could have been finals which could be another 30 points or whatever - but the good thing is I'm that close, and I believe I can do it."

Harris enjoyed his best moment in the sport at the Millennium Stadium last year with his sensational win, and he will hope that his return to Cardiff can spark his series into life.

He said: "Obviously I'd like to win it again, but the way my season has gone to get a race win would be good! I've not had one this year, but if I can get out of the gate and get one under my belt, who knows what I can do then.

"I'll be trying to treat the British Grand Prix as just another meeting, but obviously with the hype around it and with me as defending champion it will be hard to do that!"
