General Robins news Swindon Speedway, in conjunction with Frequency magazine, is delighted to announce a unique opportunity for a Wiltshire based band.

A ‘battle of the bands’ style competition will see the winning group have their song lead the Swindon Robins’ on parade before their Elite League meeting against Coventry on Thursday 21st August.

Furthermore, the winning group will enjoy a full publicity package that includes promotion in local press, a feature in the official Swindon Speedway match programme and website.

The selected band will also have the opportunity to play live after the meeting against Coventry.

The ‘Battle of the Bands’ initiative will see the winning band play live at Swindon Speedway after the Robins fixture against the reigning Sky Sports Elite League Champions, the Coventry Bee’s on 21st August.

Interested Bands are being urged to send their demo tapes direct to Frequency magazine who will shortlist three prospective candidates.

Then, it’s all down to the Robins’ riders as they will collectively decide which song they feel represents both the sport and the Robins team .

The selected group will be guests of honour at the Elite league encounter against Coventry, enjoy VIP treatment and then entertain fans with a live performance after the conclusion of the meeting.

Swindon captain Leigh Adams is enthused by the initiative:

‘Music is such a big part of everyday life. Getting local talent involved in an initiative such as this is really important. We know there are plenty of talented bands in Swindon and they now have an opportunity to show just what they can do. I wish everyone involved the very best of luck.’

Steve Causer at Frequency magazine believes this will assist the already thriving music scene in Swindon:

'Getting more exposure of the range of music on offer is high on the agenda at the moment. Frequency has been key in looking at new ways for this and working with Swindon Speedway to give such an opportunity for local bands is fantastic and something we had to be involved in.'

Bands wanting to enter should send a sample CD to Steve Causer, 28 Morley Street, Swindon SN1 1SG or email steve@frequencyalive.co.uk
