WELCOME to the latest news from the BSPA, featuring items on all nine competing teams in the Elite League.
BELLE VUE star Jason Crump said the Aces' inconsistency was shown up in their weather-affected defeat at Poole, with the Australian refusing to blame the weather.
Crump said: "The conditions were the same for everyone. It's a nightmare really when you're a rider, but we got to Heat 13 and got a result.
"It's been frustrating for us as a team this season because sometimes we show really good form and other times we don't, but that's the way it is and we've got to deal with it."
COVENTRY duo Chris Harris and Hans Andersen celebrated victory in the Elite League Pairs at Swindon, defeating the home combination of Leigh Adams and Mads Korneliussen in the Final.
Harris said: "With the season that Coventry are having this year it's nice to get a bit of silverware in the cabinet, and hopefully this will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.
"We're stronger now with Hans in the team and I think we'll surprise a few people for the rest of the season."
EASTBOURNE plan to make a further statement this week concerning the future of Lewis Bridger, who was involved in discussions with management and senior riders after the home defeat against Ipswich on Saturday which virtually ended their play-off hopes.
Skipper Lee Richardson said: "Ipswich have really strengthened by bringing in Rory Schlein and they were the better team.
"It's done and dusted for the play-offs. I thought it was after we lost at Coventry but to lose again at home, it's finished now."
IPSWICH newcomer Rory Schlein says the Witches can build on their weekend win at Eastbourne and push for a place in the Elite League's top two.
Schlein said: "We came here to win and put pressure on the top two and see if we can get that home leg. That's what we are going to be doing from here on in.
"This puts us above Eastbourne and takes a bit of pressure off, but we won't take the foot off the pedal yet because anything can happen. This year so many people have lost at home and dropped points so we will keep putting the pressure on the top two."
LAKESIDE manager Jon Cook feels the Hammers may need at least one more away win to cement a top two finish and make sure of home advantage in the play-off semi-finals.
Cook said: "We have to wait and see what both Swindon and Ipswich do away from home but both those teams need to win their remaining fixtures to go past us if we win our remaining home fixtures, and both have to visit Poole.
"If we are able to pick up any points in our final away matches we will take a little pressure off ourselves. It’s another important week for the club."
PETERBOROUGH'S Czech star Lukas Dryml is pleased to once again have the Showground as his home base after agreeing to re-join the club for the rest of the season.
Dryml said: "I love the Showground and I think I can get plenty around there. It is one of my best tracks, and hopefully it will not take me too long to get used to it again.
"I have different engines to last season but I am sure I will soon find a good set-up. I am sure I can do whatever (manager) Trevor Swales expects of me."
POOLE star Adam Skornicki was pleased to see the team put a home setback behind them to see off Belle Vue in difficult conditions at Wimborne Road.
The Polish Champion said: "I was a little bit disappointed with my second ride because I got excluded but my two 5-1s with Bjarne (Pedersen) were good.
"The main thing is we won as a team, especially after last week's home draw against Coventry in the cup. We were a little bit worried about tonight but everything went good so we are really happy."
SWINDON will stage a 'Summer of Speed' family day at Blunsdon on Thursday ahead of their Elite League fixture with Coventry. Gates open at 5.30pm with plenty of off-track entertainment planned.
Robins chief Alun Rossiter said: "So many positive things have happened for the club since our last home meeting against Poole. My message to the fans is come along on Thursday and celebrate the recent achievements of the club.
"However, the team must maintain their focus and concentrate on getting a result against Coventry. The strengthening the Bees have done in the last fortnight certainly means they will pose stern opposition so we need to operate professionally and gate well to ensure we collect the points."
WOLVERHAMPTON skipper Fredrik Lindgren said there was a feeling of relief at Monmore Green after the home side edged out fierce rivals Coventry in a close local derby.
Lindgren said: "Coventry have always done well against us in the last few seasons and we've beaten them, it feels good and I get the feeling it's just the kind of result we all needed at the club.
"It was a good meeting with a close scoreline and the track was good after all the rain they had over the weekend, we're all thrilled to get the right result."
