The 2009 Australian Speedway Championship has received a major boost with the announcement that 9 times Champion and reigning World Number 2, Leigh Adams, will take part.
The Swindon Captain has long been considering taking part and has now committed to the three round championship that kicks off on January 3 at Newcastle.
Adams said; "I feel I have some unfinished business in Australia. I have 9 titles and I'd really like to get a 10th, though I know that won't be easy.
"Chris Holder is the reigning Champion and he's doing exceptionally well in Europe at the moment and there is also another group of riders nominated that have to be respected.
"I'd be a fool to think it is going to be easy and I'm no fool. I made the mistake of riding sub standard equipment in 2003/04 and it cost me dearly.
"I will be geared up for a big one and hope the fans come out and support us the way they usually do in Australia.
"The way the points are structured makes it very hard for someone to skip ahead and there is no doubt that it will go down to the last race of the last round", he concluded.
