Poole AFTER Monday’s trip to Coventry for the second leg of the Elite Shield, the meetings continue to come thick and fast for the Robins, as they face Poole in Craven Shield action during the week.

With Eastbourne having already completed their group matches in the competition, it now comes down to a straight shoot-out between Swindon and Poole to see who can top the standings and progress through.

The Eagles have achieved a race-points difference of +7 from their four matches, while Poole currently lie on -2 and the Robins on -5.

This means that the Robins need to outscore the Pirates by 13 points over the two legs when they meet at Wimborne Road on Wednesday (26 March) and at the Abbey on Thursday (27 March).

Naturally, though, an away win on Wednesday would really put Swindon in the driving seat, as this is now rewarded with 3 points, but failing that the Wiltshire side have an excellent chance of progressing and will know exactly what they need to do come Thursday evening.

Team boss Alun Rossiter said: “The confidence levels are improving all the time and we want to top our group in the Craven Shield.

“The lads are getting it together and there is a great spirit developing within the camp.

“We know what we have to do against Poole and everyone is up for it, make no mistake about that.”
