Mads news A MAJOR plus point of the early season has been the form of Mads Korneliussen.

Read the thoughts of our mega-popular Dane on the 08 campaign with the Robins.

TALKING prior to his recent knock whilst making a guest appearance for Poole, Mads said:

“I lost half a season last year; it certainly felt as though I spent more time off the bike than I did on it. But, the injuries I picked up have all healed and I can’t feel anything from them now. I can go on a running machine for forty-five minutes without feeling anything from all of the injuries, so that’s really good.

“All through the off-season I was training really hard in the gym and I think it’s paid off, because I feel that my physical form is much better than it was before. I think it helps you stay focused and it’s good for your concentration, too.

“I’ve got two brand new engines that I’ve bought and they’re going really good. When you’ve got confidence in the machine, it makes it a lot easier because you don’t need to doubt the bike; you’ve just got to get it right as the rider.

“I’m riding high on confidence at the moment, and it really does make everything seem so easy when you’ve got that belief in yourself. I’ve made some unbelievable moves on the bike, some that I might not have been able to pull off otherwise, but when you’re riding with confidence it makes such a difference.

“To be a heat-leader is a big target for me this year; I want to be the second heat-leader in the team and the way I’m riding I believe I can do it. Like I said, I’ve invested in new equipment and I’ve got former Swindon rider Brian Karger looking after my engines as well.

“He’s doing a tremendous job; I’ve only got the two new ones that he’s doing for me, but I’m saving up for a few more because it’s just working perfectly, and the bikes seem to work everywhere. He keeps saying that he’d like to come over and see me riding around Swindon, so don’t be surprised if you see him up here having a few drinks at the bar soon!”

While Mads is enjoying piling up the points out on the track, he is still the joker of the pack in the pits. His infectious personality is certainly one of the key factors in building team spirit, while also making the twenty-four-year-old Dane so very popular amongst the fans on the terraces.

Mads explained: “There’s only Leigh [Adams] and myself here from last year, but we’ve got the team spirit going nicely. We had the team building trip before the season and everything has just fallen into place since then.

“I’m enjoying riding with Troy [Batchelor] and we’ve had some good races together. I have to admit that there’s no plan, as such, when we’re out together, except whoever gets in front gets to chase the outside dirt line, while the other does their best to follow. As a team, we’re all having a really good time and we’re enjoying it, so it’s really good.”
