Swindon Speedway’s development side, the Sprockets, head to the South Coast on Saturday (5th July) night for a fifteen heat challenge match against Conference league heavy hitters Weymouth Wildcats.
The Wildcats’ promotion have installed a ‘buy-one-get-one-free admission’ deal for any Swindon fans making the journey to the Wessex Stadium for Saturday's meeting.
The Swindon team, managed by Kevin Pitts, will consist of Ryan and Justin Sedgmen along with Ben Reade, Richard Andrews and Tom Brown. The remaining two positions in the Swindon line up are yet to be confirmed.
Cricklade based Charlie Saunders was initially scheduled to line up for Swindon but the youngster has European grass track commitments over the course of the weekend.
Weymouth track a formidable looking line up that includes Australian brothers Lee and Jay Herne along with Luke Priest. The fast rising Brendan Johnson fills a second string berth as does Karl Mason.
Sprockets' team boss Kevin Pitts is looking forward to the challenge match:
'This will be a very interesting encounter and provide our lads with some very valuable track time in a competitive meeting. I've been working with our juniors on technique on Thursday nights after the main team have finished riding so hopefully this will have postive effects'
