Coventry Despite romping to an early lead Swindon were ultimately defeated by eleven points on an eventful night of action at Coventry’s Brandon raceway.

The Robins began the night in impressive fashion and boasted a twelve point cushion after the conclusion of heat five. However, Coventry struck back and hit Swindon with a body blow in heat six with an 8-1 tactical ride victory.

From that point on the Robins failed to register a heat advantage and were unable to repel the challenge of a Coventry side that improved as a unit in the latter stages of the encounter.

A patched up Swindon side continued to utilize the rider replacement for Troy Batchelor whilst Paul Clews and Krystof Stojanowski filled the Robins’ reserve department.

Leigh Adams topped the Robin’s score chart with an eleven point haul whilst Mads Korneliussen matched his Captain’s contribution with a paid eleven points of his own.

James Wright notched an eye catching paid nine score whilst Travis McGowan collected paid seven.

Coventry were led by Chris Harris who received sturdy support from exciting British youngster Ben Barker.

Elsewhere, Simon Stead and Olly Allen recovered from disappointing starts and proved pivotal in Coventry’s mid meeting resurgence.

Reserve rider Andreas Messing was forced to withdraw from the meeting after falling in his second ride and crashing heavily into the third bend air fence.

Leigh Adams got proceedings underway in typically dominant style with an impressive tapes to flag victory in the opener to ensure an points share.

An overzealous Andreas Messing charged through the tapes in the ensuing heat and begun the re-staging from a fifteen metre handicap.

Young British hot shot Ben Barker demonstrated his speed in the re-run with a comfortable win as the Swindon duo of Stojanowski and Clews packed the minor places.

Swindon gained the lead in an emphatic heat three that saw Mads Korneliussen and James Wright combine brilliantly to hand the Robins’ a well worked 5-1.

More impressive team work followed with a second successive maximum points haul in a re-run heat four before an third successive 5-1 in heat five put Swindon twelve points ahead.

Coventry elected Chris Harris for a tactical ride in race six and the Coventry captain teamed up with Billy Janniro to inflict maximum damage on Swindon.

The Bees’ notched up a second successive heat advantage in heat seven through the hugely impressive Ben Barker and enigmatic Rory Schlein.

Korneliussen steadied the Swindon ship with a heat win in race eight before a 5-1 from the Coventry duo from Allen and Stead propelled Coventry into the lead.

A heat twelve 4-2 saw the home side take a three point lead and with Swindon unable to launch a fight back the Bees’ secured victory with a 5-1 in heat fourteen.

The Cornish duo of Harris and Barker collected a further race advantage in the closing heat which generated an eventual scoreline that flattered the home side.
