SGB General MATT JACKSON and Hugh Vass are building a complete record of British League riders to have appeared in post-war speedway.

As of the current time, there are over 3,800 riders who have ridden in a league or cup match since 1946 and this would be too many to fit into one publication.

Therefore, they have decided to split the work into volumes with the deciding factor being the decade in which the rider made his or her league debut.

The first issue covers all the 583 riders who made their post-war debuts in the 1940s and includes household names like Jack Parker, Vic Duggan and Freddie Williams down to Charlie Bourdon, who had a career with Bristol lasting just four laps.

Each rider has a biographical pen picture and full career statistics including Calculated Match Averages. The disc is also packed with superb photographs from the John Somerville Collection.

At almost 400 pages, the work has been incorporated on to CD rather than in book form, in order to reduce costs and with an eye on the environmental impact of book production.

The CD is available from 6 August 2008, and can be ordered by sending a cheque for £9.99 (including free postage and packing) to V.M. Jackson, 11 Crescent Road, Sheffield, S7 1HJ.
