Swindon came agonisingly close to collecting their fifth away victory of the season but were eventually defeated by a solitary point at Wolverhampton.
The Robins made a good start to the meeting and led by four points in the early stages. However a strong middle sector propelled Wolverhampton into the ascendancy and nurturing an eight point lead entering heat fourteen the Midlands side looked to be cruising to victory.
However, a monumental 8-1 from the breathtaking Jurica Pavlic and the superb Leigh Adams in the penultimate race launched Swindon back into contention and created a tense last heat decider.
But, the Robins were unable to collect the heat advantage they required to seal victory and were left pondering what might have been.
Swindon went into the meeting without Troy Batchelor who was suffering from illness and the rider replacement facility was operated in his absence.
Jurica Pavlic made a wonderful Swindon debut notching up a scintillating paid twelve points from his hectic five ride schedule. The Croatian conjured some lightening quick starts and demonstrated maturity beyond his years as he got stuck into the intricacies of Wolverhampton’s Monmore Green circuit.
Elsewhere, Leigh Adams romped to an emphatic nineteen point haul that included a tactical substitute ride in heat fourteen in which the Swindon skipper brilliantly overcame his fifteen metre handicap.
Mads Korneliussen notched up a paid ten points haul whilst James Wright and Travis McGowan endured difficult nights.
The home side were brilliantly led by their youthful duo of Lindgren and Iversen, both of whom collected double figure scores.
In an entertaining match Swindon took the lead in heat two with a 5-1 from the reserve duo of Pavlic and Hauzinger. Wolverhampton levelled the scores in race seven and then collected successive 5-1 heat advantages in races nine and ten. A 4-2 in heat twelve left Swindon trailing by eight points which was maintained after a points share in race thirteen.
Leigh Adams and Jurica Pavlic contributed a textbook 8-1 in race fourteen that narrowed Wolverhampton’s lead to just one point.
Requiring a heat advantage to secure victory Adams and Korneliussen got away well in the final race but the Wolves duo of Iversen and Lindgren pushed their way passed Korneliussen on the back straight of the first lap to ensure a 3-3.
