LEIGH Adams and Mads Korneliussen will be hoping to continue Swindon’s impressive Elite League Pairs record when the Abbey Stadium hosts the competition for the third time in five seasons on Sunday evening (17th August)
Since the re-introduction of the Elite league pairs competition in 2004 Swindon have collected two victories in 2004 and 2005 along with a second place finish in 2006.
Robins’ captain Leigh Adams has been present throughout; the inclusion of Mads Korneliussen means Adams rides with his fourth different partner in five years.
Swindon manager Alun Rossiter is aware just how competitive the meeting will be:
“There are some extremely strong pairings but I think we have a very good chance. Mads Korneliussen is purchasing a new engine specifically for the meeting and when his equipment is good he is unstoppable around Blunsdon.
This is the kind of occasion when Mads can prove to the watching speedway world that he can compete with the heavy hitters in the Elite league.
Belle Vue and Poole look very strong and contain riders who enjoy riding at the Abbey stadium, the competition will undoubtedly be fierce”
It’s great to stage another prestigious meeting at Blunsdon and hopefully the weather will be kind to us.
