YOU may be aware that popular former Robin Ritchie Hawkins suffered multiple injuries as a result of a crash when racing in an indoor meeting in Kiel, Germany, injuries that could well keep him sidelined for the whole season. The 24-year-old was taken to the local hospital in Kiel, where he was diagnosed as having broken his right thigh, as well as suffering possible fractures to both arms. Due to being knocked unconscious, the hospital undertook a precautionary brain scan, but that proved to be all clear.

Hawkins, a previous winner of the British Under-21 Championship, was preparing for the start of the 2008 season, one that had many predicting as the possible break-through year for the Blandford-based rider and could not have come at a worse time for him.
The good people at the Oak Tree Arena have put together a cabaret evening in aid of Ritchie.
